The Skin, the largest organ of the human body

skinc1.jpgWe treat and describe skin only as a way of determining race and other superficial reasons, but do you know that the skin is the largest organ of the human body? Yes, this is true for all the parts of one�s body is covered by this wonderful organ that serves us more than we know it. First, yes it has color or pigmentation but it also acts as our first line of defense against the millions upon millions of bacteria, viruses and contaminants that are all around us all the time. Next, it acts as a cooling system for sweat glands release sweat when we exert effort for the evaporating sweat has a cooling effect. The skin also has three unique layers, all of them serving a purpose. The epidermis is the visible layer we feel, touch and see everyday, the dermis is the nourishment part of the skin and where all the support facilities of the said organ resides. The lowest part, the subcutaneous layer is mostly fat or where we store fat and other nutrients as the body�s storage bin.
