More Sun Exposure, Better???
New research suggests that with respect to people in geographic locations that do not get enough sunlight, a moderate increase of exposure might actually be better. This contradicts widely accepted and publicized knowledge that too much sun is dangerous to your health. The study found the contradiction when scientists linked the activation of Vitamin D by the sun’s UV rays to turn it into a form that is useful to the human body. Inadequate UV exposure prevents effective Vitamin D synthesis in the human body which could raise the risks of getting cancer. Vitamin D has been known to be a vital mineral/compound needed for the human body to fight the majority of cancers. The study suggests that with these select populations, a slight increase in sun exposure outweighs the risks of getting skin cancers.
